Snow Bear Inn & Condominiums
Welcome to Snow Bear Inn & Condominiums
Snow Bear Inn & Condominiums stands out as a premier lodging choice in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, boasting a solid 4.3-star rating that reflects its consistent quality and guest satisfaction. Nestled at 22 Firehouse Rd, this locally owned gem offers a unique blend of comfort, convenience, and charm that appeals to avid skiers and families alike.
Guests often highlight the unbeatable ski-in ski-out access, a true luxury for winter sports enthusiasts. Many recount effortlessly gliding from their doorstep onto the slopes and returning without the hassle of long walks or shuttles. This convenience, however, comes with a caveat: the ski-out path is best suited for intermediate or advanced skiers, making it an exhilarating experience rather than a beginner trail.
The accommodations themselves embrace a rustic lodge motif infused with modern luxury. Spacious units such as the Chamonix, Breckenridge, and Davos models each offer distinct character while maintaining a high standard of comfort. Visitors praise the plush beds with premium linens, expansive kitchens fully equipped for home-cooked meals, and amenities like deep jetted tubs that invite relaxation after a day on the mountain. Quiet decks overlooking serene precincts provide an ideal spot for unwinding, complementing the tranquil atmosphere Snow Bear upholds away from the bustling resort core.
What truly enriches the Snow Bear experience is its attentive and personable management team. Owners Greg and Chris are frequently commended for their hands-on approach, offering thoughtful touches such as helping with grocery runs or luggage—actions that cultivate a familial and welcoming environment. This level of care elevates Snow Bear beyond mere accommodation, fostering genuine guest loyalty and repeat visits.
While the location is near charming restaurants and shops, a minor drawback noted by guests includes occasional early-morning maintenance activities, which can disrupt restful vacation mornings during peak holiday periods. Still, this does little to detract from the overall warm, inviting ambiance and functional comfort the property delivers.
Families, in particular, find Snow Bear ideal, with easy access to the children’s center and lifts just a few steps away. The combination of safety, convenience, and thoughtful layout makes it an excellent choice for multi-generational ski trips or group getaways.
Ultimately, Snow Bear Inn & Condominiums represents a harmonious blend of alpine adventure and homelike comfort. Its authentic mountain lodge charm, enhanced by stellar customer service and unbeatable slope-side location, makes it a memorable destination for anyone seeking a top-tier Taos skiing experience. For those yearning to return season after season, Snow Bear is not just a place to stay—it’s a winter haven.

Awesome Experience! Really convenient ski in and out (ski-out not for beginners) or walk to Gondolita. Great atmosphere. Cosey place. We have stayed in Chamonix 3 and 4, in Breckenridge and in Davos units. All have unique charms. Greg has always been really helpful if we've needed anything. We'll be back for sure!
Stayed at the Snow Bear over Thanksgiving in the Vail unit. It was wonderful. The units are true ski-in ski-out and cannot be beat for the price! It was a wonderful trip and Donna and Christian were wonderful. The snow at Taos is great this year and they are really fixing up the mountain. All in all it was one of my best ski trips ever.
Snow Bear was a treat for our family. We were able to ski down the driveway to the children’s center and climb just a few stairs before getting on the lift. And skiing directly back to the building’s front walk was a treat for tired legs in heavy ski boots. When we come to Taos again – this will definitely be where we book lodging. In addition to quick access to the slopes and Taos’ very short lift lines, the manager of Snow Bear was a treat to work with. Greg was on hand throughout each day of our stay, plowing the driveway, shoveling walks, and greeting us with a cheery hello. The unit itself has a second queen bed in the living room so our daughter didn’t have to use the couch, as well as 2 full baths. The kitchenette was very small, and I barely had room to roll my dough for chicken & dumplings, but it still boasts a full size fridge and dishwasher, and plenty of soap packets and dishes were included. The bedroom has heated floors. A couple things to note if you haven’t been here before. Taos is a half hour drive from the ski valley, so grab your groceries on the way in the first day, and if you plan to eat out – it will be easier to do on site. Also, this building is up a steep snowy driveway. Our 4WD had trouble one day – the manager will cart you up the hill if needed, but we were really glad to have 4WD. Snow Bear only has 14 units, so there isn’t a hot tub, which we missed. But when we come to Taos again – this will most definitely be where we want to stay. When you book, go to Snow Bear’s website for great details information about the drive, the units, the mountain – it was very helpful to read in advance.
The condo was beautiful, furnished with high end lodge motif, comfortable beds and luxurious linens, the unit was spacious and offered a generously equipped kitchen. Snowboarding was good and it was pretty close to restaurants and shops. Only downside was that they scrapped the roof at unreasonable hours of the day, like 7 am when everyone staying there on holiday would of course be sleeping and 6 pm dinner time, so that was obviously disappointing.
A great locally owned lodging option. Clean, comfy and each with its own full kitchen/ kitchenette with oven. It's tucked away from the resort area and has its own charm. Many of the rooms have deep jetted tubs. I love the deck off both front and backdoors. It is a quiet place and well kept Greg and Chris will even help you unload or pick up groceries for you! Hands down my favorite spot to stay in Taos Ski Valley.
A college friend from Albuquerque that I went to school with back East in Massachusetts (and who was one of my USCSA Skiing/Snowboarding Teammates & Racer that I coached) family had a condo at Snow Bear, so I was able to experience the magic that is Taos. AWESOME, INCREDIBLE ! 'd it!
While we have not YET stayed here, I cannot wait to!! The owner Greg has been outstanding in his attentiveness to each and every request we have made as we've tried to line up a Taos trip. It feels like he's hosting "family" and trying to make everything work as well as possible for us. He has been extremely flexible and accommodating as we've had to reschedule a much anticipated trip to ski Taos, he has reminded us that good old fashioned kindness and consideration still exists. I highly recommend taking a look at his place if you're planning a trip.
